According to the Autonomous Community, having invasive species in the home is punishable by law. “The fines for the release of these species are four months to two years in prison or an economic fine of 8 to 24 months plus a ban from working with animals in any environment for releasing non-native fauna species in Spain. Regarding the abandonment of animals, the Penal Code provides for a fine of one to six months or, according to an official report, a ban from working with animals for three months to one year.
