This week, it has been learned that there is a positive list. Pets and all excluded animals will be banned..
Somebody big changes The new law will bring removal from the list of potentially dangerous dogscurrently lists eight breeds: Pit Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Staffodshire Terrier, Rottweiler, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro, Tosa Inu, and Akita Inu.
The proposed new law replace these typical breeds with an individual assessment of the animal’s behaviorie: the behavior of each dog is analyzed before it is considered a dangerous dog.
An individual assessment will replace the list of dangerous dogs
It has been revealed recently What will be the evaluation method? will replace the list of potentially dangerous dogs: sociability test for dogs very similar to the one currently run by the Royal Canine Society (RSCE).
In this test evaluate basic education and social behaviorIt is the test that the General Directorate of Animal Rights and a panel of experts rely on to prepare the test that will replace the dangerous dog list.
In addition to the behavioral test for large dogs, there is also assessment for pet ownerswill also beobliged to insure them with Civil Liability insuranceAs other communities already have, such as Madrid or the Basque Country.
Current RSCE sociability test
Behavioral testing, currently conducted by the RSCE, “aims to check and examine the level of basic training as well as the level of social behavior” of the dog, cIt costs between € 20 and € 40 and consists of 16 exercises. However, I do not yet know which will cost the same or consist of the same points when the new law is drafted.
The purpose of this test is to train dogs with behavioral problems before they present themselves, rather than to reclassify them as “potentially dangerous”. In case of failing the exam or unwilling to take the examThe dogs will be subject to restrictions similar to those available: they will need to wear a short leash, muzzle and their owners will need to have a license to own them.
What tests make up the dog exam?
Currently, heThe RSCE sociability test consists of two parts.: The first aimed to assess the dog’s behavior in a closed circuit and the other in an urban setting.
The first test of social persistence consists of seven exercises: lying in a group distracted, starting position, walking close to the driver, changing speed and direction, standing in a group of people, sitting still and obeying free call when the “driver” is absent.
The second part of the test is the assessment of behavior in the urban environment.consists of nine other exercises, in order: getting in and out of the vehicle, microchip and mouthpiece presentation, city walking on a leash, meeting with runners, cyclists and groups of people; indifference when crossing with other dogs, lying down, sitting, going up and down stairs, brushing and cleaning, and during examination and physical check by a stranger.
In testing currently conducted by the RSCE, dog and owner must pass at least 11 of 16 exercises pass the exam (and get more than 50% of the points in each section).
